Assault can take several different forms. When any form of assault - verbal, physical, or sexual - takes place at one of our schools, it should not go unreported. South Carolina law requires teachers and administrators to properly supervise your child. When schools are grossly negligent, and as a result, a student is injured, the district may be liable.
In South Carolina, legal action can be brought against the district for assaults by teachers if the district knew, or should have known, that the teacher presented a danger to your child. The number of teacher assaults sadly appears to increase every year. The injuries caused by such acts often last long past a student's school years.
